Health Guide for Congenital Heart Disease

It’s heart month!

What are you doing for your heart for heart month? Exercise is the best thing for it! I want you to challenge yourself!. If you live in the cold part of the country, can you get on a treadmill? Can you take shorter runs/walks? All you need is 10 minutes bouts three times a day. If you are stuck inside, make a track around the inside of your house! There are no excuses! You owe it to yourself!

I used to be able to run 1/2 marathons. I had to quit a few years ago for a variety of reasons. My favorite one is this Sunday, The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer in Jacksonville, Florida. I am still challenging myself however, with my couch to 5K app (C25K, its free!). It feels great to start again. I will be doing something for others this month too! I’ll be walking in the Healing Hearts Project walk in Jacksonville on the FSCJ campus south Feb 16th at 9 AM. It is only a short 1.1 miles so we can ALL do it! Plus it helps out kids and families with heart defects. Giving back to the community is important, and it helps us make connections! Some of my best friends I have because of my defect. How will you challenge yourself this month?
